You can use bullet points but you need to motivate why the data is required. If we include our own cover page in the assignment are we required to also append a UNISA assignment cover sheet for the assignment? Don’t worry about UniSA cover sheet. For assignment 1 is the Dash Board Proposal focusing on all business units (overview of the entire business) or can it be focused predominantly on one e.g. human resource management or marketing? It is better to focus on one functional area and go into detail. Are we allowed to submit assignment drafts? No. What to include when referencing Gartner? Include author(s), title, date published and the Report ID. In assignment 1 for question 5 (planned method of implementation), are we expected to explain each step in full detail on how we should implement and deploy BI or is it a brief overview? An overview is fine with details on steps which are more relevant for a dashboard development. Do we need to include an executive summary in Assignment 1 or conclusion in the report? You don’t need to you include an executive summary. It can help to better understand the proposal but it is included in the word count so you might want to leave it out so you have more space for the content. Which parts of the assignment are more important? For each part the maximum mark you can receive is 15. Try to put an equal weight on each part (ie., similar length). You might find it easier to write more for one part than for others but try to put an equal emphasize on all of them. Do the references used have to be academic references or can they be anything? Should be academic and/or reports of good quality like Gartner or PwC or similar consultancy companies. You can use News sites as well if there are some relevant recent development that you want to include. From the Assignment Guide: “Avoid marketing/vendor sites and general websites – the quality is not assured, ie. anyone can get a website up regardless of their expertise and marketing material from software companies is usually biased. The exception would be news sites when you want to report an event.” Further info on pages 6 and 7 in the Assignment Guide. How could we do the section: Planned method for implementation? We discussed the BI Lifecycle in two lectures which covers steps in a BI project. A dashboard is one possible outcome of a BI project. In your report you propose a dashboard to your chosen organisation. If the organisation is convinced that the dashboard is a good idea and should be introduced to the organisation then it is important to explain how it can be implemented in the organisation and this should be covered in this part of the Assignment. You should cover which steps are necessary to implement and deploy it to the organisation. What do you mean by mentioning BI Lifecycle? See question above. Reference the steps in the BI Lifecycle when you explain how the dashboard can be implemented and deployed in an organisation. It is not about repeating the BI lifecycle and what has been said in the lecture but specific to your organisation and the dashboard that you are proposing. About the requirement from course outline, “Provide a screenshot of a sample related dashboard as an example of what will be developed and a paragraph describing that dashboard”…Does this mean that we need to set up the own dashboard of our case organization? This was covered in Week 3 and is also covered on Page 8 in the Assignment Guide. You need to provide a sample dashboard in form of a screenshot which provides an indication on how a real dashboard for the organisation may look like. You also need to explain why it should look like the sample example. In Assignment 2 you will create your own dashboard. If i am writing about my company from sources such as IBIS world yet can not find specific data on my company, am i allowed to use a web search to get some specific information? It is expected that you will not be able to find specific data about or from the company.
