Review refers to a specific kind of text that both presents the study and assesses it. The review thus embraces two main parts: 1) a summary of the book, there you should not make any assessment on limitations or strengths of the study and 2) assessment and reflections of the book (here you should also use the literature for the course to be able to argue for your assessment) The student may choose either Paul Willis: Learning to Laboror Diane Vaughan: The Challenger Launch Decision.The assignment consists of following parts: The student is to write a short concise summary of the book (at most 2 pages). The summary should include the aim of the study, methods, ethics and main results. After the summary the student will have to discuss: 1) what methodological decisions have been made by the author and how is the study design motivated ? You should also reflect on the methodological choices. 2) how are the analysis / results related to theoretical concepts and ideas by the author? 3) what ethical considerations are discussed by the author? What additional ethical considerations are of relevance with respect to the study according to your own opinion? The total length of this paper should be no longer than 5-7 pages (double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 p). Criteria for assessment of assignment : For E it is required that the papers should show that the student has an ability to reflect on and to assess ethnographic research with respect to methodological, ethical and theoretical aspects and to use scientific reference system.
