The discussion essay must explain: your design choices, including the resources offered, size and location, how it would be used by children how and what learning is integrated, with a focus on the science, maths, environment and/or technology concepts/content/skills the role of the adult and the intentional teaching strategies that will be used to support and extend learning All of the above discussion points must be linked to early childhood literature and theory, such as, the prescribed text and course readings. Task 1. Marking criteria (50 marks) 10 marks: the artefact or learning area is interesting and inspiring and accommodates diverse needs and interests. It supports play-based inquiry and positions the child as a co-investigator 10 marks: The artefact or learning area clearly and effectively integrates learning in science, maths, technology or environment/sustainability 5 marks: the discussion essay submission includes clear photographic evidence that the provocation or learning area has been made 25 marks: the discussion essay is clear and succinct. It explains the design choices, including the resources offered, location and how the provocation would be used by children the learning goals, including the learning that is being integrated the role of the adult, including the intentional teaching strategies that will be used to support and extend learning All of the above points are discussed in relation to scholarly literature, with accurate referencing.
