Contact Time
Leadership is taught through a combination of seminars, lectures, directed activity and reading.
Seminars
provide an opportunity for the teaching staff to provide a secure framework for student centered examination and exploration of the key issues.
They will take a discursive and collaborative approach and will usually be student led. Much of the seminar content in terms of theory and practice will form the focus for the group assessment, attendance is therefore important! The intention is that the seminars should encourage and develop friendships and peer support alongside more traditional academic skills. Please see your seminar tutor if you experience any difficulties either with the content or activity.
Lectures
are used in a number of ways: for example as a meeting point for the full cohort, as a venue for exploring the theory/body of knowledge of organisational behaviour, case study discussions and as a venue for debriefing activities with the full cohort of students.
Directed Study
As a member of a group you will be expected to undertake a number of tasks, the tasks will be chosen by the group but must receive the approval of your seminar tutor.
Independent Study
Reading
is an essential component of the module. The lectures and seminars can only touch on the body of literature and students will be expected to undertake reading to support their exploration of theoretical issues.
Receiving formative feedback during your learning is essential to ensure you are prepared for your final assessments. To support your learning throughout the module the following formative feedback strategies are used:
Dedicated assessment support lectures
Feedback on draft work
Presentations
One-to-one meetings with tutors
