Respond to  2 students discussion using the rise Model

Due Saturday August 19, 2023

Must Read Everything:

Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here’s an example of how the response should look. Please don’t copy it. The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be writin just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with “Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services” because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline’s intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what “closing-the-gap action plans” are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline’s MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed “For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying” as “Following Trish Hatch’s MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could… citation…”  for a more weighted argument?

Below are the two classmate discussion post that you will need to respond to

Classmate Response 1- Stacy

Collaboration is very important in the role of a school counselor and we must engage in a positive and supportive atmosphere where all stakeholders can . My Ideal  collaborations would include Student, Parents/guardians, Teachers, administrators, School Psychologist, and the Behavior Interventionist. So far when conducting team meetings all these members have been included and all have a special role advocating for our students. Being in a school that feels like a team and are all in unity really makes a huge difference in collaboration. The key to success and common goal  is building a trusting team and the goal is always to want to see the student succeed in academics and in social-emotional. According to Stone, 2005,  she states that,  “In addition to needing to be effective at the big three – leadership, advocacy and collaboration – our ethical codes and No Child Left Behind implore us to contribute to a safe and respectful school climate”.  It is also very essential that we familiarize with each member mentioned above so that we know how they serve the child. When we are able to work together with your teammates such as the teacher, you are able to know more of the students background and consequently be better advocates for them as well.

Classmate Response 2- Laura

  • When working in a school setting, who would be your ideal team of collaborators? Rank them in order of importance and provide rationale for your ranking.

The ideal team of collaborators would be teachers, parents, school administrators, school social works and psychologists and nurse staff.

1. Teachers- Teachers work directly with the students and can identify if a student is struggling or has needs that require additional support. A strong connection and ongoing communication with teachers will benefit the students by providing early intervention to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

2. Parents– Collaboration with parents will ensure that the student with the necessary tools to be be successful in and outside of the school. Parents play a vital role with their ability to enforce any interventions that the student receives at school. Parents and families can also provide feedback through surveys, which then we can use to strengthen an our school counseling program.

3. School administrators- School admin are involved in every aspect of the school decision making processes and culture. Collaboration with them will ensure that our school counseling program goals align with their school vision. School principal and vice-principal can also offer support and guidance for the counseling team. A great collaboration between the two could make a positive impact for the school and student’s success.

4. School social worker and psychologists- Some students require a whole team of support to address social emotional and mental health needs. Working closely with the social worker and psychologist will ensure that students get proper assessments, referrals, and counseling services to properly address their well-being.

5. Nurse staff- Nurses are responsible for tending to student’s well-being. Health can significantly impact a student’s academic achievements, and a strong collaboration with the nurse will ensure that the student is in good health, thereby enhancing their overall ability to concentrate on and achieve their academic goals.
