Assessment:
Intro: 300 words approx
1) Briefly describe the issues and why they are important. Explain what you are doing- a sort of methods which says where you looked, which search terms you used, dates, numbers of papers (see Examples of writing bellow Appendix 2).
Main Body of essay: 1800 words approx
2) Describe the evidence to support and to disprove what is being said. You need to explain the findings in the papers, putting the arguments together for and against the literature that you find in your searches and discuss whether you think the findings are sound (use search terms and search data bases and journals for the evidence , to use).
Discussion- 300 words approx
3) Briefly propose what other evidence would you want to see in this to support or disprove what is being proposed? ( critical analysis to think about what is either missing from the literature or what you think needs to be looked at. This is a chance to bring together what you have learnt in the course and be a bit creative!)
Conclusion: 500 words approx
4) Conclude with which you think are the most sound. This sums up your argument and says which is stronger evidence (for or against). To answer this assignment you need to understand what is being discussed (1)and find out what other evidence supports or disproves what is being said by looking at what else that is relevant has been written about the topic (2). This will require a literature search. You will need to reference all the literature that you cite to support your argument in the standard you were taught (Harvard).
Your conclusion will state your support or not for what is being said. You will have reached that conclusion by using the evidence you find and critically appraising it. It is at Level 4, so I am not expecting methodology/methods, but more general understanding of the arguments, the validity of the sources you have used (academic journals please, not social media opinions!) and whether you can put the argument together for or against, having given evidence for both- a bit like a debate where you present both sides of the argument (with evidence) but you end up convinced that one sides evidence is better than the others, using academic language please!
