organization development the case study states that northern county legal service

The case study States that “Northern County Legal Services ” (NCLS) is a firm that aims to provide guidance to those individuals who cannot afford to hire legal representatives to solve their problems. The organization was headed by Julie, who was involved in managing the team, discover attorney and also conduct workshop and training for volunteers and students. The main organizational problem which existed in NCLS is that the company was specialized in housing and employment law but recently started providing guidance for other legal matters as well. The students and volunteers involved mostly were not special in those branches such as domestic violence thus those cases were difficult for them regarding problem-solving (Cummings & Worley, 2014).
Moreover, the students were not provided with proper training at the time of entry and procedure such as filling up of the intake form was complex. The clients and the staffs in this organization are in disarray. The staffs were not properly organized and efficient to deal with the problems of the clients. Due to insufficient space and equipment, the office remains overcrowded with people making things more complex. According to Anderson (2013), the displeasing condition of the organization develops a poor working conduct of business. Julie being the director has a very dominating attitude who tries to order the Student rather than giving them proper guidance. Adding to this, she tries to take up the entire burden on her shoulder rather than distributing the work equally on the students and the volunteers. This reflects her poor managerial skills.
The “Northern County Legal Services” was headed by Julie, who lacked managerial skills and hired volunteers and students for offering services to clients without proper training. Due to lack of proper training and experience, the students faced difficulties in addressing the problems. The daily routine of Julie is to conduct a morning meeting over a cup of coffee where she used to discuss various problems, but the solutions were out to clear to the students .
The significant ethical issue that existed was legal matters which were not from students background was assigned to them which might have leave to unwanted complications . Moreover, it was noticed that Julie in many instances used to prioritize her own dealings rather than giving importance to the clients case (Parris & Peachey, 2013).
As stated by Parris & Peachey (2013), organizational development is a key tool that can help a company to develop strategies and use interventions that can bring about renovation in the organizational procedures. Such a strategic plan would help Julie to understand the present status of the company and where NCLS needs to be in the future months so that they can meet the organizational goal in order to raise funds. Secondly, by designing a “Standard Operating Process,” it would aid Julie to scrutinize the documents from starting to the end whenever a client contacts. This would involve service offered, cost based on the earning of the customer, lawyers list, intake and approval process.
Thirdly the team should be divided based on the strength of their knowledge background. Development of trust, confidence, and decision making permeability are the three significant components that can bring about a tremendous change in the organizational structure (Burke & Noumair, 2015).
