Time management | Human Resource Management homework help

Purpose

Learning task 2 continues and builds on the work undertaken for Learning task 1 in your chosen managerial skill area. Specifically, with learning task 2 you willresearchtheoretical concepts relevant to your selected skill area, describe the action you undertook in the action plan (from learning task 1) and reflect on your efforts over the semester to develop your personal performance in your chosen managerial skill area.

Students will research their chosen skill area, consider their experiences relating to the actioning of their Learning Contract/Action Plan and write a report of approximately 3000 words.  The structure of the report should take the following form.

Approximately half of the report should cover an outline of theoretical concepts relevant to your skill area, and a discussion of the implications of these skill areas in effective management practices.  That is, the report should do more than describe the skill area you have chosen in your Learning Contract.

The second half of your report should address your action plan outcomes and measures of achievement.  Successful completion of this assessment is dependent on the ability to describe the outcomes of your pre and post measures, and demonstrated learning achievements.  Focus on the actual learning outcomes or changes in skill level that you are able to demonstrate you have achieved.

In writing the report, it may be helpful to consider areas such as – what evidence would demonstrate to yourself and to others that you have increased your competence in the chosen area of learning?, how has your understanding of the skill broadened (or not)?, what have you learnt from your successes or ‘failures’?, what would/could you have done differently? etc.

The report is to be approximately 3,000 words in length. Please be aware that you will be required to attach to your report any supporting documentation, such as journals, audio tapes, questionnaires, survey responses etc. in the form of appendices as well as the Learning Contract/Action Plan with the original feedback from your tutor. Submission of the individual assignment is to be made via the School of Business submission box.

Assessment criteria:  In assessing the report, consideration will be given to:

·         demonstration of the required structure (as outlined above)

·         reading and research in your topic area (minimum of five (5) academic sources required)

·         ability to consider and reflect on the outcomes of the Learning Contract and Action Plan

·         the quality of the written expression and writing style, i.e. spelling, grammar, proof-reading, neatness, and correct citation methods.

my task 1

Action steps on time management

Aim:

The aim of this assessment is to manage the time according to the need and to allocate the time and resources to accomplish the objectives set. The objectives could be achieved using the time management theories in the work place relating how we spend our time to get more jobs done in time. Time management defined by De Janasz, wood, Dowd & Schneider (2006) as the ability to allocate the time and resources to accomplish our objectives. Skills are to be developed to become effective managers who find that time management increases productivity. This also reduces stress of the employees. The aim really focuses on the maximum utilization of limited time to get better output. From now on of six weeks of time period, I will have increased my skills of time management in order to get better productivity using the theories and implementing it practically. “Work smarter not harder” applies here (interpersonal skills in organization 4th ed.). So for the next six weeks I will implement these theories to improve my time management skills.

Rationale:

Time management is the essential element of the managerial skills that I have selected for my research assessment. And I think I’m not that good to manage my time efficiently in the daily basis currently. In a day we have limited time i.e 24 hours and 168 in a week so we should concentrate ourselves with our tasks to be more efficient with our time. And I think in the next six weeks I will be able to utilize my time directed towards my work and study by which I could get a better output in the future. Taking control over time means taking control of your life. Whatever activities are done that should be based on the time frame. Time management not only focuses on the study or jobs but rather relates to as a part of community as well. I hope this managerial skill will develop my future career.

Pre and Post Test measures:

To assess exactly how much time I spend in study or jobs, I will keep a report of all my activities for one week and then evaluate with the performance report with the actual set which will show me how I have been managing the time then further action steps can be taken to ascertain the time management for the next six week. This will determine my current level of time management skills and how well the activities are done. Is it with stress or without stress? Depends on the time I have managed for the next six weeks. And see how much improvement have been made in these six weeks.

Action Steps:

The assessment have taken me through various research of time management skills theories and implement them to see how it works in next six weeks of time aiming to get better output.
